Corporate VR Platform Meetings in 2021: Why are we still doing it old-school?

Back to all blogs

In 2021, meeting participants wear headsets that allow them to fully immerse in virtual reality meetings. A VR platform meeting will change the way we interact with other people and present ideas to one another-it’s all just a matter of time before these futuristic developments fully replace IRL meetings.

Introduction

A lot of people today are working virtually over video conferencing, but that’s about to get a major facelift. Because what if our interactions with other people and the tools we use to do our jobs are not limited by physical locations, but instead can be shared experiences? What if, while sitting in your living room or home office you’re meeting with someone who is thousands of miles away instead working with them on a Dolomite lakeside?

VR meetings are changing the way we interact with people and present ideas to one another

One of the biggest benefits of a VR meeting is that it eliminates physical barriers. In a real life meeting, participants must be in the same room and physically look at one another-but with virtual reality, people can appear as full 3D avatars and meet anywhere and everywhere you want them to. This means that any location no matter how remote or inaccessible becomes accessible, any time.

Use of VR technology will lead to a more collaborative workplace

VR allows employers and employees to work virtually, which leads us into the world of tele-work. Tele-workers are people who live away from physical offices for extended periods of time. According to FlexJobs, 66% of the workforce doesn’t want to go back to IRL offices, and prefers to work from wifi with choice in the matter ie from a coffee shop, from home, or from work. This also means that people can seamlessly collaborate with their peers and clients with less barriers while still retaining a reasonable work-life balance.

Work flexibility will be on the rise, but remote workers don’t have to worry about isolation. That’s where VR comes in!

Future of work

Imagine that you’re going to a meeting with your boss and you’re both wearing virtual reality headsets in your living room while exchanging 3D models and images on a French Vineyard or any of hundreds of worldwide environments. While the headset can’t currently show all of her facial expressions, it does transmit her voice which is crystal clear thanks to binaural audio technology. You hear her words, but also feel as though she’s sitting right next to you.

The power of a VR spatial meeting

A VR meeting is changing the way we collaborate with people and present ideas to one another — it’s all just a matter of time before these futuristic developments become ubiquitous! In the 21st century, if the teens were all about the smartphone, in the 21st century, the 20s are all about leveraging immersive collaboration in virtual spaces. If the teens were about Microsoft Team, Slack, and Magic.

In 2021, meeting participants are wearing headsets that allow them to fully experience a VR spatial meeting

For virtual reality meetings to be successful, people put on fully immersive gear. They won’t necessarily need large screens — but whatever device is used must make them feel like they’ve been transported to another world entirely. This could mean eliminating the option of being able to see through the device and into the real world-that would defeat the purpose of what virtual reality is all about, after all!

For collaboration in 2021 to be successful, participants will need to set aside some time to themselves where they can sit down with other employees and immerse themselves in this new type of meeting. If you decide that you’re going to meet your colleagues virtually instead of physically as it’s done now, the only way for a meeting like this to work is if everyone involved sets aside an hour or so on their schedule. It could actually even end up taking more than an hour due to training; people who are attending may not have used the technology before and may need a few minutes to get used to it.

Need for buy in and participation

If you want your employees at your company to participate in a VR spatial platform meeting environments where spatial’s users can join with their avatar on their headset in their space that suits their business, they’ll need to start practicing VR user collaboration today! When You Meet Your Colleagues in VR, Will You Really Be Engaging with Them?

Entertainment and gaming industry professionals have been raving about the possibilities of virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) technologies for decades. This article explores why VR and spatial collaboration using avatars over Oculus may become an important part of corporate meetings replacing the real life screen and mobile apps, already by 2021  and far better at that then a real world browser — but not necessarily as a way to engage with colleagues face-to-face, like in real life meetings — but rather as a way to present data to them via remote interaction technology, without their nonverbal reactions being lost in browser presentations with images and objects and tools making leap access to virtual spaces and sessions vs AR headsets, or AR and VR, or VR headset with spatial computing like Magic Leap or apps and app collaboration.

Hypothetical:

What is your reaction when you hear somebody saying “when”? Why? Does this make sense? Are you on board with these predictions? Please share your thoughts in the comment section below.

New Era for the VR Meeting to replace users addiction to web browser

In 2021, business people represented by avatars will not only be travelling to corporate meetings but also taking part in virtual and augmented reality meetings from home or wherever they are, using an avatar representation of themselves. In this new technological era, these meeting participants at futuristic companies will also wear VR glasses during their meetings for a more immersive experience than real life screens and mobile apps or Zoom, thus eliminating the need of physical documents such as handouts and presentations-all that is needed is to access one’s personal cloud storage through their VR glasses’ earphones.

A VR meeting will change the way we interact with other people and present ideas to one another-it’s all just a matter of time before these futuristic developments come into play!

By 2021, mixed reality meetings will be the new norm. Meetings have been around for centuries and they are still just as important today as they were back then. But in 2021 VR meetings will become much more popular because of how many benefits there are to having a face-to-face meeting virtually instead of physically.

You’ll be able to wear VR headsets that allow you to fully experience being with other people who may live far away from you, and you’ll go in to a spatial experience that’s far more immersive than Zoom alone, or worse, a regular web screen. Instead of seeing them on non spatial video screens, you can see them virtually before your eyes! A conference call will no longer do; if we want to meet face-to-face with each other without actually meeting face-to-face, then VR is the answer.

Throughout history, people have had meetings to create ideas, make strategic decisions about their businesses and collaborate with each other using their own avatars. People need face-to-face communication to build trust between themselves and their colleagues. Everyone can relate to having been in a meeting where they could tell that the person on the other end of the table wasn’t totally into it because he or she wasn’t engaged by what was being talked about; they were merely there for appearances or just focusing on trying not to fall asleep.

The thing is, we couldn’t really blame them if they weren’t interested in whatever was being discussed at the time. Sometimes you just get bored with talking about things like cost-cutting initiatives and company budget cuts…you know?

VR Meeting – by the numbers, and honing in on user digital behavior on your team

By 2030 more than 70 percent of all face-to-face meetings will be held virtually through the use of VR technology. Spatial tech better than Zoom or traditional app that looks at space and video as old school vs mobile app.

VR Meeting – current day

In 2021, businesses around the world will be conducting their meetings differently. VR headsets will have become commonplace and an essential tool for any corporate meeting. The technology that makes immersive virtual reality possible is becoming more advanced every day, allowing users to fully immerse themselves in a three-dimensional environment where they can collaborate with objects like physical tools or products. A great article that discusses this is about future of work environments.

Oculus Quest VR Meeting 2021

Virtual Reality Meetings: Why it’s valuable for your business. Imagine this scenario: You are sitting at a table with three of your users from your team in a virtual conference room app, wearing a virtual reality headset. Your computer screen is projected into the space around you, showing notes about an upcoming meeting written by your boss [or whoever assigned you].

Changing Enterprise Adoption for VR Headsets for their business

How will virtual reality meetings change the way we collaborate with other people and present ideas to one another while being represented by an avatar in an imagined space with spatial’s collaboration over oculus? Imagine being able to turn away from the screen where you are reading notes that have been prepared for the meeting, turn toward someone sitting across the virtual table from you, and then say aloud exactly what is written in those notes. You can also spawn and create anything, getting a version of reality that’s forward and aligned with the future, with AR/VR sessions in app that are infinitely more rewarding than a phone call or a phone conference in Microsoft or Google virtual rooms alone.

Conclusion

With so many reasons to go virtual, why is the idea of having meetings in 3D still so foreign and futuristic? Even though the tech tool is available and better than web , people are still hesitant to get on board with VR. Google has for years been traumatized by VR for the enterprise, this after years of successive failures with Cardboard, Daydream, and several other assets while Oculus Quest has seen a winning formula with all-in-one headsets enabling anyone to create their avatars with facility. For those of you who have already tried it out, I hope that you agree that a meeting app doesn’t have to be set within a boring conference room or hotel lobby for you and your team. It can take place anywhere in the world-even under water!

If we keep waiting for “the right time” before we begin using VR meetings, we’ll never digitally accelerate! It’s time to jump in and catch up to the future of enterprise work.
